fad6caf9b1 i40e: Fix interface init with MSI interrupts (no MSI-X)
[ Upstream commit 5fcbb71102 ]

Fix the inability to bring an interface up on a setup with
only MSI interrupts enabled (no MSI-X).
Solution is to add a default number of QPs = 1. This is enough,
since without MSI-X support driver enables only a basic feature set.

6f949e5615 i40e: Fix erroneous adapter reinitialization during recovery process
[ Upstream commit f838a63369 ]

Fix an issue when driver incorrectly detects state
of recovery process and erroneously reinitializes interrupts,
which results in a kernel error and call trace message.

The issue was caused by a combination of two factors:
1. Assuming the EMP reset issued after completing
firmware recovery means the whole recovery process is complete.
2. Erroneous reinitialization of interrupt vector after detecting
the above mentioned EMP reset.

Fixes (1) by changing how recovery state change is detected
and (2) by adjusting the conditional expression to ensure using proper
interrupt reinitialization method, depending on the situation.

2b4659c145 i40e: Fix dropped jumbo frames statistics
[ Upstream commit 1adb1563e7 ]

Dropped packets caused by too large frames were not included in
dropped RX packets statistics.
Issue was caused by not reading the GL_RXERR1 register. That register
stores count of packet which was have been dropped due to too large
size.

Fix it by reading GL_RXERR1 register for each interface.

Repro steps:
Send a packet larger than the set MTU to SUT

6158df4fa5 i40e: i40e_main: fix a missing check on list iterator
commit 3f95a7472d upstream.

The bug is here:
	ret = i40e_add_macvlan_filter(hw, ch->seid, vdev->dev_addr, &aq_err);

The list iterator 'ch' will point to a bogus position containing
HEAD if the list is empty or no element is found. This case must
be checked before any use of the iterator, otherwise it will
lead to a invalid memory access.

To fix this bug, use a new variable 'iter' as the list iterator,
while use the origin variable 'ch' as a dedicated pointer to
point to the found element.

This was caused by PF queue pile fragmentation due to
flow director VSI queue being placed right after main VSI.
Because of this main VSI was not able to resize its
queue allocation for XDP resulting in no queues allocated
for main VSI when XDP was turned on.

Fix this by always allocating last queue in PF queue pile
for a flow director VSI.

39896710f7 i40e: Fix issue when maximum queues is exceeded
commit d701658a50 upstream.

Before this patch VF interface vanished when
maximum queue number was exceeded. Driver tried
to add next queues even if there was not enough
space. PF sent incorrect number of queues to
the VF when there were not enough of them.

Add an additional condition introduced to check
available space in 'qp_pile' before proceeding.
This condition makes it impossible to add queues
if they number is greater than the number resulting
from available space.
Also add the search for free space in PF queue
pair piles.

Without this patch VF interfaces are not seen
when available space for queues has been
exceeded and following logs appears permanently
in dmesg:
"Unable to get VF config (-32)".
"VF 62 failed opcode 3, retval: -5"
"Unable to get VF config due to PF error condition, not retrying"

c859c4de0b i40e: Fix incorrect netdev's real number of RX/TX queues
commit e738451d78 upstream.

There was a wrong queues representation in sysfs during
driver's reinitialization in case of online cpus number is
less than combined queues. It was caused by stopped
NetworkManager, which is responsible for calling vsi_open
function during driver's initialization.
In specific situation (ex. 12 cpus online) there were 16 queues
in /sys/class/net/<iface>/queues. In case of modifying queues with
value higher, than number of online cpus, then it caused write
errors and other errors.
Add updating of sysfs's queues representation during driver

6d64743045 i40e: Fix changing previously set num_queue_pairs for PFs
[ Upstream commit d2a69fefd7 ]

Currently, the i40e_vsi_setup_queue_map is basing the count of queues in
TCs on a VSI's alloc_queue_pairs member which is not changed throughout
any user's action (for example via ethtool's set_channels callback).

This implies that vsi->tc_config.tc_info[n].qcount value that is given
to the kernel via netdev_set_tc_queue() that notifies about the count of
queues per particular traffic class is constant even if user has changed
the total count of queues.

This in turn caused the kernel warning after setting the queue count to
the lower value than the initial one:

$ ethtool -l ens801f0
Channel parameters for ens801f0:
Pre-set maximums:
RX: 0
TX: 0
Other: 1
Combined: 64
Current hardware settings:
RX: 0
TX: 0
Other: 1
Combined: 64

$ ethtool -L ens801f0 combined 40

[dmesg]
Number of in use tx queues changed invalidating tc mappings. Priority
traffic classification disabled!

Reason was that vsi->alloc_queue_pairs stayed at 64 value which was used
to set the qcount on TC0 (by default only TC0 exists so all of the
existing queues are assigned to TC0). we update the offset/qcount via
netdev_set_tc_queue() back to the old value but then the
netif_set_real_num_tx_queues() is using the vsi->num_queue_pairs as a
value which got set to 40.

Fix it by using vsi->req_queue_pairs as a queue count that will be
distributed across TCs. Do it only for non-zero values, which implies
that user actually requested the new count of queues.

For VSIs other than main, stay with the vsi->alloc_queue_pairs as we
only allow manipulating the queue count on main VSI.

2dc768a98c i40e: fix endless loop under rtnl
[ Upstream commit 857b6c6f66 ]

The loop in i40e_get_capabilities can never end. The problem is that
although i40e_aq_discover_capabilities returns with an error if there's
a firmware problem, the returned error is not checked. There is a check for
pf->hw.aq.asq_last_status but that value is set to I40E_AQ_RC_OK on most
firmware problems.

When i40e_aq_discover_capabilities encounters a firmware problem, it will
encounter the same problem on its next invocation. As the result, the loop
becomes endless. We hit this with I40E_ERR_ADMIN_QUEUE_TIMEOUT but looking
at the code, it can happen with a range of other firmware errors.

I don't know what the correct behavior should be: whether the firmware
should be retried a few times, or whether pf->hw.aq.asq_last_status should
be always set to the encountered firmware error (but then it would be
pointless and can be just replaced by the i40e_aq_discover_capabilities
return value). However, the current behavior with an endless loop under the
rtnl mutex(!) is unacceptable and Intel has not submitted a fix, although we
explained the bug to them 7 months ago.

This may not be the best possible fix but it's better than hanging the whole
system on a firmware bug.

c1cc6bce1a i40e: Fix queue-to-TC mapping on Tx

In SW DCB mode the packets sent receive incorrect UP tags. They are
constructed correctly and put into tx_ring, but UP is later remapped by
HW on the basis of TCTUPR register contents according to Tx queue
selected, and BW used is consistent with the new UP values. This is
caused by Tx queue selection in kernel not taking into account DCB
configuration. This patch fixes the issue by implementing the

44ef38c0a2 i40e: fix the panic when running bpf in xdpdrv mode
commit 4e39a072a6 upstream.

Fix this panic by adding more rules to calculate the value of @rss_size_max
which could be used in allocating the queues when bpf is loaded, which,
however, could cause the failure and then trigger the NULL pointer of
vsi->rx_rings. Prio to this fix, the machine doesn't care about how many
cpus are online and then allocates 256 queues on the machine with 32 cpus
online actually.

Once the load of bpf begins, the log will go like this "failed to get
tracking for 256 queues for VSI 0 err -12" and this "setup of MAIN VSI
failed".

Thus, I attach the key information of the crash-log here.

0171f4e8d3 net: intel: Remove in_interrupt() warnings
in_interrupt() is ill defined and does not provide what the name
suggests. The usage especially in driver code is deprecated and a tree wide
effort to clean up and consolidate the (ab)usage of in_interrupt() and
related checks is happening.

In this case the checks cover only parts of the contexts in which these
functions cannot be called. They fail to detect preemption or interrupt
disabled invocations.

As the functions which are invoked from the various places contain already
a broad variety of checks (always enabled or debug option dependent) cover
all invalid conditions already, there is no point in having inconsistent
warnings in those drivers.

Just remove them.

40a98cb6f0 i40e: convert to new udp_tunnel infrastructure
Make use of the "shared port table" to convert i40e to the new
infra.

i40e did not have any reference tracking, locking is also dodgy
because rtnl gets released while talking to FW, so port may get
removed from the table while it's getting added etc.

On the good side i40e does not seem to be using the ports for
TX so we can remove the table from the driver state completely.

b50f7bca5e intel-ethernet: clean up W=1 warnings in kdoc
This takes care of all of the trivial W=1 fixes in the Intel
Ethernet drivers, which allows developers and maintainers to
build more of the networking tree with more complete warning
checks.

There are three classes of kdoc warnings fixed:
 - cannot understand function prototype: 'x'
 - Excess function parameter 'x' description in 'y'
 - Function parameter or member 'x' not described in 'y'

All of the changes were trivial comment updates on
function headers.

Inspired by Lee Jones' series of wireless work to do the same.
Compile tested only, and passes simple test of

f0064bfd96 i40e: use 16B HW descriptors instead of 32B
The i40e NIC supports two flavors of HW descriptors, 16 and 32
byte. The latter has, obviously, room for more offloading
information. However, the only fields of the 32B HW descriptor that is
being used by the driver, is also available in the 16B descriptor.

In other words; Reading and writing 32 bytes instead of 16 byte is a
waste of bus bandwidth.

This commit starts using 16 byte descriptors instead of 32 byte
descriptors.

For AF_XDP the rx_drop benchmark was improved by 2%.

c4655761d3 xsk: i40e: ice: ixgbe: mlx5: Rename xsk zero-copy driver interfaces
Rename the AF_XDP zero-copy driver interface functions to better
reflect what they do after the replacement of umems with buffer
pools in the previous commit. Mostly it is about replacing the
umem name from the function names with xsk_buff and also have
them take the a buffer pool pointer instead of a umem. The
various ring functions have also been renamed in the process so
that they have the same naming convention as the internal
functions in xsk_queue.h. This so that it will be clearer what
they do and also for consistency.

Replace the explicit umem reference passed to the driver in AF_XDP
zero-copy mode with the buffer pool instead. This in preparation for
extending the functionality of the zero-copy mode so that umems can be
shared between queues on the same netdev and also between netdevs. In
this commit, only an umem reference has been added to the buffer pool
struct. But later commits will add other entities to it. These are
going to be entities that are different between different queue ids
and netdevs even though the umem is shared between them.

Now VSI is releasing if VSI is not in reset recovery mode.
Without this fix it was possible to start remove driver if other

e8407fdeb9 bpf, xdp: Remove XDP_QUERY_PROG and XDP_QUERY_PROG_HW XDP commands
Now that BPF program/link management is centralized in generic net_device
code, kernel code never queries program id from drivers, so
XDP_QUERY_PROG/XDP_QUERY_PROG_HW commands are unnecessary.

This patch removes all the implementations of those commands in kernel, along
the xdp_attachment_query().

This patch was compile-tested on allyesconfig.

16d79cd4e2 PCI: Use 'pci_channel_state_t' instead of 'enum pci_channel_state'
The method struct pci_error_handlers.error_detected() is defined and
documented as taking an 'enum pci_channel_state' for the second argument,
but most drivers use 'pci_channel_state_t' instead.

This 'pci_channel_state_t' is not a typedef for the enum but a typedef for
a bitwise type in order to have better/stricter typechecking.

Consolidate everything by using 'pci_channel_state_t' in the method's
definition, in the related helpers and in the drivers.

Enforce use of 'pci_channel_state_t' by replacing 'enum pci_channel_state'
with an anonymous 'enum'.

Note: Currently, from a typechecking point of view this patch changes
nothing because only the constants defined by the enum are bitwise, not the
enum itself (sparse doesn't have the notion of 'bitwise enum'). This may
change in some not too far future, hence the patch.

d5ec9e2ce4 i40e: Add support for a new feature Total Port Shutdown
After OS requests to down a link on a physical network port, the
traffic is no longer being processed but the physical link with
a link partner is still established.

Currently there is a feature (Link down on close) which allows
to physically bring the link down (after OS request).

With this patch new feature with similar capability is introduced:
TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN
Allows to physically disable the link on the NIC's port.
If enabled, (after link down request from the OS)
no link, traffic or led activity is possible on that port.

If I40E_FLAG_TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN is enabled, the
I40E_FLAG_LINK_DOWN_ON_CLOSE_ENABLED must be explicitly forced to
true and cannot be disabled at that time.
The functionalities are exclusive in terms of configuration, but
they also have similar behavior (allowing to disable physical link
of the port), with following differences:
- LINK_DOWN_ON_CLOSE_ENABLED is configurable at host OS run-time
and is supported by whole family of 7xx Intel Ethernet Controllers
- TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN may be enabled only before OS loads (in BIOS)
only if motherboard's BIOS and NIC's FW has support of it
- when LINK_DOWN_ON_CLOSE_ENABLED is used, the link is being brought
down by sending phy_type=0 to NIC's FW
- when TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN is used, phy_type is not altered, instead
the link is being brought down by clearing bit
  (I40E_AQ_PHY_ENABLE_LINK) in abilities field of
  i40e_aq_set_phy_config structure

Introduced changes:
- new private flag I40E_FLAG_TOTAL_PORT_SHUTDOWN for handling the
  feature
- probe of NVM if the feature was enabled at driver's port
  initialization
- special handling on link-down procedure to let FW physically
shutdown the port if the feature was enabled
